To quote David Robinson -- "Well Now!"
When the lockdown first started, we spent a lot of time filling out every application possible for financial relief. EIDL, PPP, art grants (for my composing again.. fancy that!), journalism grants (for all the writing I do each week), etc... and still nothing has come in. Not even the $1200 stimulus check (yes, I make much less than $75,000 a year... actually, it was negative numbers so maybe they got confused). I'm never sure why the public thinks that owning a record label, studio or distribution music company is a good idea. You really have to LOVE music to endure this kind of risk/stupidity. I do love music, though. It's my life.
So yeah, I bought a $99 ATR 2100 handheld USB mic for podcasting. It works. We're going to test it out to see just how bad it is. If it can come close to an SM-57, I'll be happy. We also bought a Dell desktop for the office/admin and (eventually) editing video, 8T of hard drive space, an Ethernet adapter for my Chromebook, a Logitech clip on camera, wifi router that's up to the speed we get from Comcast and a new printer (for our MQD labels, of course!). All a big thanks to Dell for giving us credit. Next, we looking at a rebuild of Blue Coast Records. I know everyone's going to be happy about that.
Enjoy your week!
