It's a beautiful day on the San Francisco peninsula today. I'm looking out my window with an enormous amount of gratitude. It's Thanksgiving and I'm grateful for so much.
But I'm most grateful to be home after spending 5 days in the fairylike town of Cambria. It has some of the most beautiful ocean water, perfect surfing waves, amazing sunsets and sunrises, huge pine trees where the village is and a fairy-like hippie town full of crafts, organic foods and a few espresso bars. It's Christmas year 'round. Who would think that such a beautiful place would make me appreciate my 40 years of home/studio clutter this much. Certainly not me.
I was caught off guard in Cambria with it limitless beauty. So what was it missing?
For me.... I missed the motivation to create and the community around it. I missed the things I've piled up over the years that remind me of all my friends and family.. and our journey through this life. I missed the process of thinking what we were going to do next and solving all the problems. I missed a great espresso and the smiling baristas. I missed the interactions with the crew and the daily musings social media provides. I missed striving for more and better.
Some how, in beautiful Cambria, I didn't know who I was. Maybe that's a good thing sometimes... to forget and just experience life as it hits you each day with no agenda to get anything done. And now 5 days later, I'm so glad to be back to my messy garden, leaky roof, studio full of gear and all the work it takes to make music. Yes, I missed the work it takes to keep it all going in order to serve you, my friends, family and community.
I am so very thankful to be writing this message to all of you.
Thank you so very, very much and have a wonderful day!
