A few days ago Paul McGowan from PS Audio described his first listening experience and it reminded me of mine. What was your first listening experience?

In my case it was my father who loved the audio experience. He bought a stereo "console" with built in turntable and a knob that said "echo"... which I loved to turn a lot (and still do). My first listening was the ping pong game. I still remember sitting in front of the console listening and moving my head as the little ball got swacked!
The albums I remember were musicals from Rogers and Hammerstein that got played a lot on vinyl. I still love those songs. My first 3 albums were classical -- Beethoven's 6th and 7th Symphony. I played those endlessly.
My father also bought me my first tape recorder... a little red and white plastic thing that handled 4" reels from Sears. I was 10 at the time. Dad acted like he was 10 when he was around audio gear. I've never known a person who like to fix audio or tv things more than he did... even when it didn't have problems.
Dad is 93 now and still a 'tweaker' when it comes to audio or tv.
I wonder where that console is now? Probably under my house somewhere.
