Once a year or so I try to make a dent cleaning out one of those hidden places where things have been hiding for years. During the pandemic, I made an effort to do it once a week. You find all kinds of memories there.
Along with my grandmother's ceramic plates (that my brother doesn't want) I found a stack of photos dating back to the first photos I took with my Nikon camera when I was 16. No cameras in phones back then. Remember having to process pictures and wait a couple of days? Or the "polaroids"?
I found pictures of some of my favorite sessions.... like the trip to London to record Ladysmith Black Mambazo. It was my first trip out of the country and I had to get a passport. Photos in the studio, of the soccer field and kicking the ball around at breaks and in front of the mansion where we recorded. It seems like yesterday. The album was nominated for a Grammy. Photos of friends no longer with us. Time to digitize. I'll be posting a few soon.
