Some people go through life thinking that routines and rituals are a bad thing. I might have been one of those people until I realized that I miss routines and rituals. There is a peace and calm around doing the same things again and again with better results and happier days. Even a small ritual of how you make your coffee or where you get it from can be upsetting if you have to suddenly change.
Most of us found out the hard way during the lockdown. Now that some restrictions are being lifted, we're all kind of discovering some of the new rituals might be better. And some ritual might be hard to go back to... like driving to work. I don't have to drive to work because my studio occupies the lower two levels of my house. The crew comes over here. So for me, the morning ritual of going out to get coffee was sometimes the only interaction with other humans outside of the crew I might have. In fact, driving for 20 minutes to Half Moon Bay for coffee was more than ritual - it was meditation.
Soooooo for me, not having all the cars on the road at 7am during lockdown was fantastic. The clear skies, chirping birds, and greener grasses was also nice. Getting back to the ritual of having musicians in to record is going to be interesting as well.
