04 01 2020 It was announced yesterday that we shall be asked to Shelter in Place for another 30 days -- until May 3, 2020. I live in the Silicon Valley. For the first time in many years, the skies are blue and the birds are singing. In fact, a lot of my friends from all over the country have told me they've notice an increase in birds chirping.
Each morning, I walk into my front patio with my smart phone and record 1 minute of bird sounds for that day. Maybe there's a little wind, maybe new birds. While we're locked up inside our houses, isn't it strange how the birds seem to be enjoying this.
And not just birds.. I've heard the dolphins are back in the canals of Venice and the Ozone layer is starting to repair itself. Truthfully, I'm enjoying having no cars on the road myself.
So, on April Fool's Day, nature reminds me that though humans think they are the superior species, there is a force bigger than the economy at play. Bigger than religion or gender or race where we're all treated equally and can be taken down by a tiny virus only seen on a microscope.
Oh, and one other thing... why are so many people using their leafblowers? Come on, really?
If you have a moment, take a one minute video of the birds and sounds in your Shelter. I'll like to make a collage with all the birds and create a magnificent ambient orchestral piece. Send to: support@bluecoastmusic.com
