When Shisha Cries

1:52 Doug Robinson

In this collection, we see both the depth and breadth of Doug Robinson’s creativity and musicianship.

Start with “Shenandoah,” a clever and carefully constructed interpretation of this classic piece of Americana. Doug is joined by Dave Carpenter on bass, Tripp Sprague and Paul Sundfor on saxophones and the renowned and tasteful Peter Erskine on drums. The ensemble plays with great taste, energy and originality.

Then there’s the pensive and melodic “Pamela,” where Sprague’s flute interleaves with Robinson’s piano for a spacious feel and pace.

For an amusing double entendre, “We’ve Got Time” starts with an easy pace that percussionist Duncan Moore gently reinterprets several times. Doug’s piano joins the gentle pulse as he gives a beautiful performance of this ballad.
