With a masterful delivery of passion and restraint, internationally acclaimed award-winning classical singer Geeta Novotny invites you on an intimate journey through ‘Rebelle’– a beautifully reimagined collection of seven of the most celebrated arias and art song in the classical vocal repertoire, along with an original work entitled, “Sangeeta”, a live in-studio improvisation.
Virtuosic guitarist Federico Ferrandina’s innovative accompaniments and arrangements –heightened by David Piltch’s brilliant featured performances on bass– weave in and around Novotny’s voice, providing a sensual sonic context for her vocal, but never wavering from the delicacy of their synergetic arrangements.
This album of vivid classical anthems challenges the status quo of how these legendary classical arias and songs are presented and listened to, and entices the listener to experience and appreciate these eight chansons in a new light. Colored with infusions of pulsating jazz, and ambient vocal and guitar sound walls, “Rebelle” embraces both the poise of classical convention, and harnesses the edge of breaking it.
